Dear M. Lelarge,

If women had as much difficulty producing children as we have had in developing your article, or if they took as long to do it as we have, the world would have no fear of overpopulation. Mr. H. has read your last manuscript. He feels we are getting close, perhaps very close, to having a publishable draft. I'm still in the dark, unfortunately, since my copy of the last draft is in French.

We have only one problem, I'm told, with the existing story. That is that the present manuscript tells how to do something but does not substantiate the claims for the method. Readers would have to take the advice you supply pretty much on faith which, as you know from reading Datamation, is not our style.

Fortunately, there is an easy way to handle the problem. That is by supplying an example of where and how the methodology has been applied. I suggest that you consider adding the experience gained in the Algerian application, . We realise that you might wish to disguise the name of the company involved, (T'was SONATRACH), but you could include such things as how long it took to put the application up, how many people were involved, how long the learning curve for new users was, what obstacles were encountered, what investment in machine time and calendar time was required, and most important what the performance of the resulting system was.

This has been a trying experience for us. It must have been difficult for you as well. Thus we will understand if you choose not to go ahead with the expansion of the story. We can expect to still have some difficulty in having all the text translated into English, and in answering questions which we discover in the English version. Still, if you are willing to go ahead, so are we.
