Any definition supposes a “definitive  definition of the definition”
        “The brain does not explain: it manufactures explanations… (Ed. Spencer de Bono)
        “The signification of a word is what the explanation of the  signification explains… To understand "signification", see the explanation of the signification, (Wittgenstein, Investigations, n° 560).
        “The criteria for “fitting”, “possibility”, “comprehension”, are much more complex than it seems  at first sight… This  is what we must understand in order to solve  the philosophical paradoxes… a word could be “indefinable”… (Wittgenstein:  “investigations” n° 182).

    “Chalk, mineral appearing at the cretaceous period ”, then: “Cretaceous, time when the chalk appears”. And "encyclopaedia" ? “art to pedal circularly”. Seeing a dictionary on a computer, a kid exclaimed “a machine to turn pages.” (you remember the reflection of Jamet appointed to Biblio of the Future?) "Hyperlinks", “anchors”? “tricks to find the pages”. The true question is: “Which help can bring the computer as an extension  of my brain ?” 
        The best joke to do to a philosopher?  ask him for his definition of “philosophy”, (the Big Philo-Book contains  three dozen, I will add a pinch). They agree almost all on one point:
     “Philosophy deals with the “bases” of the thought”,
This “major” calls a “minor”:
     “The definition is its basic tool”,
Ergo:      "it is not philosophical to define “philosophy” before “defining the definition”.

        The problem of the definition was perfectly seen  by Spinoza: “A hammer is needed to make a hammer ”. The poor fellow did not juggle between “hardware” and “software”. Bill-Magnon had solved the hardware problem , with a pebble. On the other hand, (on software  level ), it is more difficult. Any definition depends on this rule :
“The quality of a definition depends on the quality of the definition of its environment”.
        By-products of the definition,  the “justification”  making it possible to vary an "idea” in the form without to change the bottom. With time, one arrives at a flood of justifications and names.


          A particular case is :  “philosophy, maidservant of theology”. The latter is a cosmology, appeared with "noodigm number one", to save the wild imaginings ofthe “satammus” Then it had to justify itself in front ofthe philosophy of each period, (details in “prout-Sophie and philosophy-bidet”).
         Therefore, “religious philosophies” are the negation of theologies which they must save…
            But I should justify my obsession for the definition. I believed a long time that it was an after-effect of the defeat of 1940. How to explain that  the "most intelligent people" on the earth, were so wrong. Then, at the time of our “Liberation”, individual errors  were severe.
         I understood thereafter that this obsession of exactitude, justice and truth was the lot of  "hautisme".

    Two remarks on the influence of the computer in logic::
I find this importance of the "environment of the definition" in the C++ language, which does not use a derived class without knowing the class of origin. How to regulate “unemployment”, (a derived class), without defining “MONEY”, the class derived from “value”? . One promises to restore us the greatness of France without knowing the cause of this greatness and of the deche(Fr)ance.  One speaks about education before defining “Man” and a “successful life”. Who  finds beneficial to confuse “Civisation” and “Civilization”.
each one defineswithin the framework of the noodigm in which he is plunged, while being unaware of the theory of the noodigms. If “bottle” or “monkey” is immutable, we will show that the first task of a new noodigm is to change the definitions, (see examples with “brain”, “force”, "rupture",… with a thought for Bachelard).

         Now each one begins his own collection ofdefinitions:

“You ask me to define “MONEY”? It is a philosophical concept: ask the philosophers”.
        (Let him give us his preferred  “philosopher”,  Lavinas ? Derry  Dada ?).

“We are not “a sect having succeeded” since the Report on the Sects  does not define “sect”.

Toute définition suppose  "définition définitive de la définition"
        " Le cerveau n'explique pas: il fabrique de l'explication... (Ed. de Bono,  c'est applicable à toute solution ?)
        "La signification du mot est ce qu'explique l'explication de la signification... Pour comprendre signification, voyez l'explication de la signification", (Wittgenstein, Investigations, n° 560).
        "Les critères pour "ajustage", "possibilité de", "compréhension", sont beaucoup plus complexes qu'il ne le semble à première vue... Ce rôle est  ce que nous devons comprendre afin de résoudre des paradoxes philosophiques... un mot serait "indéfinissable"... (Wittgenstein:  "investigations" n° 182).

    "Craie, minéral apparu à l'époque crétacée", puis: "Crétacé, époque où apparaît le craie". Et "encyclopédie"? "art de pédaler en rond". A la vue d'un dictionnaire sur ordinateur, un gosse s'écria "une machine à tourner les pages." (vous vous rappelez la réflexion du Jamet préposé à la Biblio du Futur ?) Les hyperlinks, les "anchors"? "trucs à trouver les pages", à escamoter la vraie question: "Quelle aide peut m'apporter ce prolongateur de mon cerveau?" 
        La meilleure blague à faire au philosophe? lui demander sa définition de "philosophie", (le Big Book en contient trois douzaines, j'en rajouterai une pincée). Ils sont presque tous d'accord sur un point:
     "La philosophie s'occupe des "bases" de la pensée",
Cette "majeure" appelle une "mineure":
     "Ladefinition est son outil de base",
Ergo,
     N'est pas philosophe qui définit "philosophie" avant de "définir la définition".

        Le problème de la définition fut parfaitement vu par Spinoza: "Pour faire un marteau il faut un marteau". Le pauvre ne jonglait pas  couramment entre "hard" et "soft". Gros-Magnon avait résolu le problème hard, d'un "coup de poing". Par contre au niveau soft, c'est plus coton. Toute définition dépend de toute ma "cosmologie".
"La qualité d'une définition dépend de la qualité de l'environnement de cette définition".
         L'explication et la "justification" sont des sous-produits de la définition. Avec le temps, on arrive à un déluge de justifications et d'appelations.


          Que penser de la "philosophie définie servante de la théologie". Cette dernière est une cosmologie, (une explication du monde comme les suivantes), la première apparue, (donc le "noodigme numéro un"), pour sauver les élucubrations des "satammus" Or, elle essaie de se justifier par une singerie de laphilosophie  de chaque époque, (détails dans "prout-sophie et philo-bidet").
         Donc, les "philosophies religieuses"  sont  la négation des  théosophies qu'elles doivent sauver...
        Mais je devrais justifier mon obsession pour la définition. J'ai longtemps cru que c'était une séquelle de la défaite de 40. Comment expliquer que les gens "les plus intelligents de la terre" se soient  trompés à ce point. A la "Libération", les erreurs étaient individuelles mais sévèrement rétribuées.
        Par la suite, je compris que l'obsession de l'exactitude, de la justice et de la vérité était le lot des "hautistes".

    Deux remarques,; sur l'influence de l'ordinateur en logique::
Je retrouve cette importance de l'environnement de la définition dans le langage C++, qui n'utilise pas une classe dérivée sans connaître la classe d'origine. Comment régler le "chômage" et les SDFs, classes dérivées, sans définir "FRIC", classe dérivée de "valeur"? (Gödel demande si "Valeur" est une base auto-contenante?). On promet de nous restituer la grandeur de la France sans connaître les cause de la vraie grandeur de la France et de la déché(Fr)ance; on parle éducation avant de définir "Homme" et "vie réussie". Qui trouve intérêt à confondre  "Civisation" et "Civilisation".
chacun définit dans le cadre du noodigme dans lequel il est plongé, tout en ignorant la théorie des noodigmes. Si "bouteille" ou "singe" sont immuables, nous montrerons que chaque montée d'un noodigme change les définitions, (voir  exemples avec "cerveau", "force",... avec une pensée pour Bachelard).

        Maintenant commencez votre "bêtisier" de définitions:
Mas'Trichet, Grand Fricoponte de France:
"Vous me demandez de définir "FRIC"? C'est une notion philosophique: demandez aux  philosophes". (Cher Pompiste à Phynance, votre définition de "philosophe", du moins votre liste, Lavinas? Derry Dada?).
Mgr du Mans à pigiste-radioteur distingué:
"Nous ne sommes pas "une secte qui a réussi" puisque le Rapport sur les Sectes, (de  Gest & Guyart), ne définit pas "secte".
